1. Introduction
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how mPocket POS (“we”, “our”, or “us”) accesses, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the App.
By using mPocket POS, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
2. Information We Access and Use
2.1 Information You Provide
Depending on the features you use, we may process the following information:
- Account information, such as your name, email address, and account identifier, when you register, sign in, or request password reset;
- Support information, such as your name, email address, and message content, when you contact us through the App;
- Store and business records, such as store details, stock items, customer records, balances, expenses, sales, and reports that you create and manage in the App.
2.2 Local Business Data
Most business records you create in mPocket POS — including inventory, customers, expenses, sales, receipts, and reports — are primarily stored locally on your device as part of the App’s core functionality.
Data that remains only on your device may not be transmitted to our servers unless a feature you use specifically requires it.
2.3 Permissions and Device Features
The App may use certain device features to provide core functionality:
- Bluetooth: to scan for paired devices, and connect to compatible paired Bluetooth printers for receipt and report printing.
- Internet / Network Access: to support account-related features, password reset, and support requests sent to our servers.
- Camera (optional): only if you use barcode or QR scanning features, where available.
If you disable required permissions or device features, some parts of the App may not function properly.
2.4 Reports and User-Initiated Sharing
When you generate a report, the App may create a temporary PDF file inside the App’s cache on your device. This file is used to support export and sharing features.
If you choose to send a report by email, the App shares the file only through the email application you select. This action is initiated by you.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- create and manage your account;
- provide core point-of-sale features and maintain your business records;
- generate receipts, reports, and summaries;
- connect to compatible Bluetooth printers and support printing;
- respond to support requests and communicate with you when you contact us;
- maintain the security, reliability, and proper operation of the App;
- comply with applicable legal obligations.
4. What We Do Not Currently Do
At this time, mPocket POS does not:
- show third-party advertisements in the App;
- sell your personal data;
- use third-party analytics tools for usage tracking;
- use third-party crash reporting tools for automatic crash collection.
5. Data Storage and Security
5.1 Local Storage
Most business data is stored locally on your device using App-managed local storage, such as the App database, cache, and protected preferences.
5.2 Server Processing
Certain features, such as account registration, sign-in, password reset, and support requests, may send information to our servers in order to complete those features.
5.3 Security Measures
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information, including the use of secure network connections such as HTTPS for supported server communications.
- Secure transmission for supported network requests;
- Restricted access to systems used to operate our services;
- Maintenance updates and security fixes where reasonably applicable.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are also responsible for securing your device and controlling access to it.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
We may disclose information only in limited circumstances, such as:
- Service providers acting on our behalf: where reasonably necessary to operate our services (for example, hosting or email delivery used to process support requests).
- Legal compliance: where disclosure is required by law, regulation, court order, or lawful governmental request.
- Protection of rights and safety: where reasonably necessary to protect our rights, users, systems, or the public.
7. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide App functionality, respond to support requests, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our terms.
Data stored locally on your device may remain there until you delete it, uninstall the App, or clear the App’s data, subject to your device settings and system behavior.
8. Data Deletion
We provide users with clear options to request deletion of their account data and personal information.
You may request data deletion in either of the following ways:
- In-App Deletion: You can delete your data directly from the App by opening the Settings screen and tapping the Delete Data button. A confirmation dialog will appear before the deletion request is processed.
- Web Request Form: You may also submit a deletion request through our online data deletion form at: https://www.mpocketpos.com/delete-data.html
Once a valid deletion request is received, we will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize the applicable personal data, subject to any legal, security, fraud-prevention, or record-keeping obligations that require us to retain certain information for a longer period.
Deleting App data from your device or uninstalling the App may remove locally stored business records from your device, but it may not by itself remove data previously submitted to our servers. If you want server-side data removed, please use the in-App delete option or the web request form above.
9. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:
- request access to personal information we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate information;
- request deletion of your account or personal information, subject to legal and operational requirements;
- object to or restrict certain processing where applicable.
You may also manage device permissions through your Android settings. Disabling permissions may limit some App features.
To request account or data deletion, please contact us using the details below or use any in-App deletion option we make available.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date above and may provide additional notice in the App where appropriate.
Continued use of the App after an updated Policy becomes effective means you accept the revised Policy.
